1 No dental auxiliary device in dentistry

1.1 Foreword
Quite often, in the everyday practice, dentists have to face up to little difficulties, which are out of the dental field. This means that those problems are not solvable with a dental instrument.

A clear example can be the nervous patient, who, for a natural and comprehensible fair to undergo to an operation. Sometimes there are tense patient even for a simple check-up, causing himself a disordered state of mind and a twitch as well.

Everybody knows this behavior goes against the dentist work, while making an operation on the patient.

The reason can help an adult to behave in a reasonable manner, both for the dentist and for the patient. But when the patient is a child, things are not so easy.

1.2 Stress prevention

A frightened child, which means he is in a stressed condition or anxiety, is suspicious and very rational. This means that when an adult wants to persuade him to do something, a little lie or a play is not always enough.

The child patient needs a psychological approach . this argument is largely explained, with many bibliographic ref. on the article written by Patrizia Siviero, Chiara Folegatti, Lucia Giannini e Cinzia Maspero L’ANSIA DEL DENTISTA NEL BAMBINO: UN APPROCCIO PSICOLOGICO published on nr. 6 June 2013 of Dentista Moderno magazine (pag. 50-54).

Making a summary, which doesn’t do justice to the good author’s job (we suggest to read it) we can affirm that children anxiety, and so all the behaviors which ties to the dentist fair, is certainly the most difficult to be managed by the dentist.

Managing a baby patient requires, even by the most expert dentist, a huge waste of time and energy.

Scientific community acknowledges that, in order to avoid a pharmacological treatment, it is necessary a bigger effort in managing the behavior and psychology of the little patient.

2 Bracelet against stress
All the children are frightened by the dentist. Like everybody, children are different one another. The first step towards success, which means towards the stress reduction of the little patient, is when the dentist can settle a communication, sharing relationship and when he can find a common language, suitable with children.

For the first approach with children, one of the effective solutions can be a non dentistry disposal, used as help in dentistry, with a calming effect with a pleasant aspect for the child.

T-Calmo is a bracelet made with non toxic colored silicon, that takes advantage of integrative medicine, such as aromatherapy and chromotherapy, to have a calming effect. T-Calmo bracelets release lavender scent and they are made in different colors.

T-Calmo bracelet can be the best vehicle that helps braking the ice between the dentist and the little patient, in order to build a psychological approach with children.

Clearly no impediment to use it with adults. The use has already been experimented.

3 Theory
T-Calmo bracelet uses aromatherapy and chromotherapy to obtain the child relaxing. Aroma and chromotherapy belong to supplementary medicine, which means that they can be used in association with ordinary therapies with the goal of increasing the result.

3.1 Aromatherapy
It is possible to consider Aromatherapy a branch of herbal therapy, which uses aromatic essences (essential oils) to help body and mind. To reach serenity, Aromatherapy exploits the olfactory stimulation of the human being.

Differently from all other senses, the olfactory stimulation goes directly to the cerebral cortex, avoiding to be screened by thalamus.

This fact makes the olfactory cells (stimulated by the smelling particles) transforming the chemical stimulus into the electric pulse that can stimulate the smell center. We have partly explained why a smell can recollect a happy or un happy memory , a sensation, a sound, an image and so on!

Essential oils spread perfuse, that are perceived by a peculiar membrane, which is into the nose cavity connected with a nervous fiber that can “communicate” with central nervous system.

3.2 Chromotherapy

Chromotherapy takes advantage of color to take advantage.

Colors become the vehicle to help our organism, body and mind, finding their natural balance. Chromotherapy effects balancing - let us say – our cells vibrations through the oscillatory waves of the light spectrum.

Colors can be imbibed by our body in different ways, even through clothing and accessories in contact with skin. They are perceived, in addition to the sight, also by skin and skullcap and they can cause physiologic effects both for body and mind.

4.1 Lavender (for children)

Lavender properties

Lavender essential oil for aromatherapy is a panacea. Its best use is for balance and serenity.

Lavender is the best essential oil to be used for children. Many childhood indispositions (colics, nervousness, cold, agitation…) can be alleviated with a lavender essential oil massage or simply let the child smell some drops of it.

The lavender essential oil has got an effect on the nervous system supporting the relaxing and regulating breathing that, if the child is nervous, it becomes quicker and superficial.

Its reinvigorating effects on nervous is well known and used in psychotherapy against fear, mental confusion, hysteria. It’s efficient in case of insomnia, hysteria, tachycardia and used against all nervous disorders.
